Hey friend,

How are you?

It’s been another packed week on the news front and here’s what I’ve been reading:

The Hantavirus is apparently not another pandemic in the making (fingers crossed). Yet, it’s the subject of much misinformation, particularly in the US, thanks to the Trump Government’s axing of the CDC and national health schemes and withdrawal from the WHO.

The real worry is that the US’ weak response to the Hantavirus outbreak has shown that it’s unequipped to respond to infectious disease health scare.

Meanwhile, the war and closure of the Strait of Hormuz is causing devastation in countries like Somalia.

Food prices are up by 70% in some areas while fuel prices have risen 150%. This compounds existing drought-conditions, food insecurity and drastically limited aid funding.

And a look at the impacts of “trade over aid” a year on from USAID’s untimely demise.

Finally, some good news on how aid can trigger reciprocal generosity, which is a certainly a smart way to win friends.

Here’s hoping future US governments will feel the same.

Now, let’s get stuck into this week’s board with 50 brand new roles.

Note that some are only open for a few days or are closing soon, so don’t delay.

As you know, the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board is a weekly list of paid roles (no volunteer or intern roles) and carefully curated by yours truly.

It’s for communications professionals in the global development sector.

All roles are open to non-locals and in developing countries only.

You won’t find anything else like it.

And it’s delivered straight to your inbox bright and early every Tuesday morning (AEST). For the bargain price of $US10/month.

Paid subscribers get the full deal, 2 hours ahead of everyone else, while free subscribers get 10 roles picked at random.

I do the hard yards finding these gigs so you don’t have to! You’re welcome.
