Hey friend,

How are you?

If you’re tuned into news in Southeast Asia, you’ll have heard about the massive scam centres mushrooming throughout Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines and especially, Cambodia, in the last few years.

Workers are lured or trafficked to the scam centres where they are enslaved and forced to scam people through increasingly sophisticated “pig-butchering” frauds.

The trade devastates the human rights of hundreds of thousands of people while generating about $60 billion a year for transnational criminal networks.

Political heat from multiple governments concerned about their citizens, spearheaded by China, and international investigations, have made recent operations less lucrative for those dead souls who profit from human misery.

Rather than sink to the bottom of a wormhole, the trade has squirmed into new terrain. Like Sri Lanka. A tragic twist for a country that has already endured so much.

And left behind are the destitute survivors of the trade.

Human trafficking and modern slavery severely undermines global development.

And it requires a global solution. Or at least working together through diplomacy, aid, international frameworks, policing, and of course, good comms.

Which is why everyone needs people like us.

Now, let us get to work, starting with this week’s 45 new jobs.

Note that some are only open for a few days or are closing soon, so don’t delay.

As you know, the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board is a weekly list of paid roles (no volunteer or intern roles) and carefully curated by yours truly.

It’s for communications professionals in the global development sector.

All roles are open to non-locals and in developing countries only.

You won’t find anything else like it.

And it’s delivered straight to your inbox bright and early every Tuesday morning (AEST). For the bargain price of $US10/month.

Paid subscribers get the full deal, 2 hours ahead of everyone else, while free subscribers get 10 roles picked at random.

I do the hard yards finding these gigs so you don’t have to! You’re welcome.
