Hey friend,

How are you?

One thing I like doing in my job is social media. It’s easy; short pieces of comms that I can edit to engage audiences on a human level.

A visual way to highlight events, activities and achievements in a development program.

And it’s simple to track engagement and produce insights that impress the higher-ups.

But pretty soon AI will be running the whole show.

Social media has already changed vastly in the 20-odd years since Facebook crawled out of the ocean and grew legs.

It’s barely recognisable now - full of ads and “recommendations” for people and brands I’ve never heard of.

If I didn’t use Facebook for work, I’d have quit it altogether by now.

I used to love Twitter but I deleted my account when it became X.

I dipped into Instagram now and again but found it too superficial. Surprise, it’s now full of AI influencers and you can’t tell the difference between real and fake.

And spend more than a couple of seconds watching a reel and the algorithm floods your feed with that theme.

Mine’s currently stuck on cute (but probably AI) panda videos. Go figure.

LinkedIn is the last of the big social media platforms that hasn’t entirely been overtaken by AI drivel.

I spent years developing content and learning about SEO and algorithms, and how to write for audiences.

The need and appreciation for that expertise is disappearing fast.

AI has devalued the work of writers.

Content is churned through at a crazy rate and it’s too hard to compete with the bots.

And soon enough, there’ll be an app that will create text and images and upload a month’s worth of social media posts with the press of a button.

And all that once made social media engaging and unique will be gone.

Fortunately, we’re not there yet.

Pockets of sanity prevail and communicators who understand how social media is supposed to work, are still in business.

With that, I give you this week’s 51 fabulous new comms roles.

Note that some are only open for a few days or are closing soon, so don’t delay.

As you know, the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board is a weekly list of paid roles (no volunteer or intern roles) and carefully curated by yours truly.

It’s for communications professionals in the global development sector.

All roles are open to non-locals and in developing countries only.

You won’t find anything else like it.

And it’s delivered straight to your inbox bright and early every Tuesday morning (AEST). For the bargain price of $US10/month.

Paid subscribers get the full deal, 2 hours ahead of everyone else, while free subscribers get 10 roles picked at random.

I do the hard yards finding these gigs so you don’t have to! You’re welcome.
