Hey friend,

How are you?

What do you think about private investment filling the gap of traditional donor dollars?

It’s a complex issue.

On one hand, there’s a huge amount of potential, like that private funding could feed millions in Sudan or support climate and disaster preparedness in Fiji.

There’s thousands of examples of success stories, particularly in smaller projects.

But ramping up private investment to fill shrinking donor funding is different - the power balance shifts.

And if donors are withdrawing their funds, can they expect their influence to go too? How do donors stay relevant when they’re not at the top of the funding pyramid?

Another question is, how is the success of private finance determined?

And more importantly, who decides what is funded and what isn’t?

This is the question driving the development funding debate now.

Private investors don't necessarily put money where poverty is greatest.

But maybe they should.

Maybe private financing needs to be redesigned “in service of life”.

Lots of food for thought.

But on the bright side, I don’t see the role of comms phasing out anytime soon.

Wherever the money comes from, someone still needs to tell the stories.

With that in mind, let’s get to this week’s 52 new comms roles.

Note that some are only open for a few days or are closing soon, so don’t delay.

As you know, the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board is a weekly list of paid roles (no volunteer or intern roles) and carefully curated by yours truly.

It’s for communications professionals in the global development sector.

All roles are handpicked and open to non-locals, in developing countries only.

You won’t find anything else like it.

And it’s delivered straight to your inbox bright and early every Tuesday morning (AEST) (except for today!). For the bargain price of $US10/month.

Paid subscribers get the full deal, 2 hours ahead of everyone else, while free subscribers get 10 roles picked at random.

I do the hard yards finding these gigs so you don’t have to! You’re welcome.
