Welcome to the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board & Blog
Hey there, my name’s Lani. I’m an Australian comms specialist and founder of the C4D Jobs Board. Every week, I curate the best roundup of communications jobs in the aid and development sector, and in developing countries only.
Brand new opportunities every week from big and small global organisations, and all roles are international or open to candidates other than in-country nationals.
I also post loads of real world, tried and tested tips and strategies for comms professionals on my blog - helping you to find work and thrive in the development industry. Everything I’ve gleaned over the last 15 years in comms consulting.
Subscribe for the C4D newsletter direct to your inbox every Tuesday.
What’s in the box?
All the roles in the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board are specifically curated for communications professionals in the aid, development and humanitarian sector, and in developing countries only.
Why? Because working in-country, where development actual happens, is the most tangible and real part of being in the sector. Life may be difficult, confronting, and unexpected but it’s also humbling, eye-opening and inspiring. And a life experience you won’t forget.
But I digress. You can subscribe to the C4D newsletter from anywhere in the world, and all ethnicities, races, and genders are welcome.
The C4D Jobs Board covers full time, part time, remote, and hybrid roles. There’s staff positions and consulting gigs, short term and long term. I list a whole range of communications roles, from editors and writers to social media managers, videographers, radio producers, graphic designers, advocates and engagement specialists, event planners, marketing managers, and website designers (not developers, though, or fundraisers).
There are entry level jobs, executive roles, and everything in between. Every job on the board is paid; I don’t list any volunteer gigs or internships. I also note any required language other than English.
Roles are sourced from multiple global jobs boards and a wide circle of personal contacts in the development sector, around the world.
I do my very best to provide accurate listings but all job seekers are responsible for their own research. All information is correct to the best of my knowledge at the time of compiling but is subject to change. Please do not contact me about any particular listing or send me your CV - I do not have any further information, so these emails will be deleted.
Paid subscribers
The C4D Jobs Board is a labour of love but it’s also made possible by paid subscribers. Membership is just $5 a month (or $55 yearly).
Subscriptions can be automatically updated to 13 different currencies based on Substack’s exchange rates, so there’s less or no conversion fees for you.
The paid version of the weekly newsletter gives subscribers the full C4D Jobs Board into your inbox every Tuesday, so you get the pick of the jobs you want.
Paying subscribers also get full access to my blog posts and archive, including some subscriber-only content. This is where I share all my step-by-step strategies and tips to finding, and thriving in, your next comms job.
I also send occasional personal job recommendations and overflow work from my own plate. These will go to select subscribers, depending on your expertise and experience.

More about me
My name is Lilani Goonesena and I’m a comms specialist currently living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I’ve been freelancing for over 12 years, during which time I’ve worked for big and small organisations, government, managing contractors, and for myself.
I’ve contracted at the International Trade Centre (UN-WTO) and the World Bank, trained small agribusinesss in marketing and branding, co-authored social media guides, led and mentored teams, and built my own successful consulting business.

And here we are.
